Over the coming weekend Big Roast, London’s original hog roast company have lent our name to a fantastic event taking place across London. On Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of October the Gourmet odyssey and more importantly The Big Roast is being held in numerous venues across London, with Leadenhall Market being the centre point.
This events offers a chance to taste and experience food of the UKs top chefs, including; Mark Hix, Richard Corrigan, Fergus Henderson, Tim Hughes, Anna Hansen, Rowley Leigh and John Torode. However you have to like roast dinners as it is the only option on the menu.
Along with the Leadenhall Market event many of those participating in the London Restaurant Festival will be running In-house Big Roast menus. To find out which restaurants are involved simply look at the London food festivals website. This event is also a ‘bring your own’ event so you won’t be paying restaurant prices for a nice glass of Chablis or a bottle of Shiraz to wash down your Sunday roast. If you can’t make this event but still want the spectacle that is involved with large scale hog roast then simply think of booking us at your next event, we may not be able to offer you all the trimmings in a traditional sense but our extensive salad and side dish options along with our expertly cooked meat means no one will leave hungry or disappointed.
Tickets for ‘The Big Roast’ are between £40 and £50 depending on how close you would like to sit to the action. As opposed to a standard, plated dish, participating restaurants will champion the fashion for serving roast joints of meat for friends and family to share.

Big Roast would like to congratulate Jake and Freya and wish them all the luck in the world as they begin the rest of their lives as husband and wife. Our chefs almost shed a tear as they were on hand to provide an evening hog roast buffet on the patio terrace of this beautiful Ascot country house.
Big Roast have provided hog roasts for some large events, some grand events and some big events but this has to be Big Roasts most elegant roasting event. We sent our best roaster, head chef Steven, to this hog roast in Ascot and his expert skill was put to task as he seasoned, marinated, carved and created a boar roast banquet fit for this spectacular setting.
There was a few questions about Big Roast attending this wedding reception. Initial problems with the venue were going to stop us from providing a roast in the evening with the venue unhappy with allowing an outside caterer onto their premises. However the happy couple were very keen on having a big roast service. Working with Jake, who had more than enough to think about, we made a deal that allowed Big Roast to provide its delicious best.

Big Roast hopes that all of its hog roasts are greeted with vowels like “Oh!” and “Ah!” but this pig roast was actually for the Vowels. Based in Kent this spit roast was yet another sensational success with 75 happy customers ready to feast on our traditional roasting flavours.
A whole hog can feed up to 120 people so with 75 guests I had to warn the Vowels that this Kent event would have plenty of meat for everyone. They were not at all concerned with creating a real boar roast banquet though and supplemented the slow roasted pig with three of Big Roast’s more substantial salad options. Coupled with our beautifully carved pork, served on a soft white roll and with our organic apple sauce, Big Roast served a classic potato salad and a rice salad with mixed peppers, garden peas, sweet corn, sultanas & fresh herbs.
Big Roast was also on hand to provide china plates and stainless steel cutlery for this Bromley hog roast. Sometimes the thought of having to clean up can spoil a party so Big Roast always endeavours to take away as much of your event stress as possible. Big Roast can provide disposable plates and cutlery as well as the high quality china that the Vowels decided upon for this Kent roast.
As you can see from the pictures below it was a real mix of ages but everyone seemed to enjoy the food served. Big Roast always makes sure it listens to its customers and really appreciate the feedback we received. Good feedback is always nice to hear but the excellent feedback Big Roast received for this lamb roast in Loughton Essex was as great to savour as the delicious lamb rolls that were served.
Big Roast likes to write a few words about our favourite events and this midweek lamb roast is no exception. The atmosphere was superb and the event organisers were absolutely wonderful, accommodating Big Roast as we catered for 45 guests. Sometimes we like to show a few pictures of the event surroundings and take a few pictures of those invited but for this blog we’d like to focus on what was so well received… the food.

at they tasted, how excellent the smelt and, to the professional, how good they looked was enough for us. We wanted to post these pictures straight away and Big Roast hopes you enjoy reading our brief blog articles as much as we enjoy creating the content.
We think the lamb roasts at this event was one of the best we’ve ever cooked. Coming from online organic butcher English Meat, this whole lamb took about two hours to cook to perfection. Weighing approximately 20kg there was plenty for everyone. Served with a mint sauce tailored for the perfect lamb roll you will not find a better lamb roast than Big Roast’s.

If you use the Urban Dictionary you may be shocked by their interpretation of a spit roast but Big Roast would like to assure everyone that this hog roast in Highgate was sensational without any connotations. Roasting up a real treat our chef created a feast of flavours with a mixture of pork loins and whole chickens to cook a banquet with a real mix.
Big Roast is famed for it’s whole hog roasts and lamb roast but if you want a smaller event or more variety to your meal Big Roast’s spit roast is a flexible alternative that can be a real winner. The pork loins we cooked up for this North London event provided a similar hog roast roll to the spectacular whole pig roast that is a favourite at weddings and anniversaries. Coupled with this was spit roast and split roast chickens to add a little variety. Roasting the chickens by both the spit roast and split roast technique our chef was able to provide both lightly roasted and char-grilled chicken at the same time.

Spit roasts don’t come much bigger than this event at The Cambria’s Big Lunch event in Camberwell, South London. Big Roast, London’s leading spit roast, lamb roast and hog roast specialist, was on hand to provide a spectacular hog roast and delicious spit roast for this massive spit roast event. Not only was this spit roast event massive in size it was massive in success with The Cambria’s event planner, Steve Risely, organising an absolutely brilliant street party complete with an extremely talented band, action packed activities and delightful food including Big Roast’s trademark spit roast and hog roast.
Big Roast has to salute The Cambria for organising such an impressive event. Big Roast has posted some pictures of this spit roast specticle but they can’t really convey this Big Lunch, hog roast and spit roast, event in full swing. Our chefs really enjoyed the music and we’re positive Big Roast weren’t the only ones. Over 200 revellers attended The Cambria Big Lunch and everyone’s smiling face has to be a testiment to how good this street party was. Big Roast’s spit roast was a little part and Big Roast’s hog roast was bigger piggy part of The Big Lunch success and Big Roast are really happy that we were invited to take part.

Lamb roasts are perfect for smaller events as Big Roast, London’s leading hog roast, lamb roast and spit roast company, knows very well. Last weekend saw Big Roast cater an exclusive lamb roast event in North London that had everyone smiling. As you can see from our photos adults and children seemed to really enjoy the lamb roast, specially cooked and beautifully carved, by our head chef and his apprentice.
Big Roast can cook up a hog roast for hundreds or a lamb roast for tens and this lamb roast event was for just 18 people. Variety was the key to this lamb roast event with Big Roast providing expertly marinated chicken drumsticks, a spicy potato salad and a delicious pesto, parmesan and pine nut pasta salad to complement the lamb roast. Add to this a fresh mixed leaf salad with Balsamic, olive oil & lemon juice dressing and for desert rich chocolate fudge cake and a traditional apple streusel pie and you have a a truly spectacular banquet for the lucky guests of this lamb roast event.
Big Roast really enjoyed this lamb roast event and was particularly special for our new apprentice chef Tim. This was his first lamb roast event since completing his training and our head chef said he worked particularly hard. As you can see from Big Roast’s photos Tim got to grips with the lamb roast, under our chef’s supoervision, and served up a great lamb roast to the delight of all. Big Roast hope that the guests at this lamb roast event enjoyed the lamb roast as much as Big Roast. Thank you for using Big Roast it was a real pleasure!

Hog Roasts on the roof of Work Group’s headquarters may not be flying pigs but it certainly was a spectacular site watching our chef Steve wrestle the wind to create another delicious hog roast event.
Forty three hog roast eaters were on hand to savour the flavour of a hog roast banquet for Work Group’s summer event. Steve, Big Roasts master hog roast cook and creator of our patented hog roast apple sauce, said the wind was a real issue as he prepared, cooked and carved this hog roast on the fifth floor. “The wind caused a real challenge,” Big Roasts’ hog roast master chef claimed, “but I think the event went really well and everyone enjoyed the hog roast.”
As you can see from the pictures Steve was able to keep his cool and manged to cook the whole hog roast with his sun glasses constantly on. The photo’s also show how beautiful the weather was for this roof top hog roast extravaganza. The people at Work Group made the hog roast an absolute delight to cater for. Big Roast likes to make people happy and the meat eaters of Work Group really seemed to enjoy the hog roast. The vegetarians were not disappointed either with Big Roast providing vegetable kebabs served with spicy tomato relish. A meal even the heartiest meat eater would consider becoming a veggie for.
Big Roast finished the hog roast event with a selection of its two favourite deserts, rich chocolate fudge cake and baked lemon cheesecake, a sweet end to a fabulous hog roast event. Again we got some great feedback and would like to thank Work Group for letting us provide the hog roast for their summer event. Hopefully we’ll see you at Christmas. “Everybody loved it! Hog Roasts have been found in pubs since knight were drinking ale and mead in inns around the country. Big Roast, London’s original hog roast, lamb roast and spit roast company, provided a traditional hog roast last weekend in the Old Red Lion in Staines but this time not to satisfy the general public. Instead Big Roast were cooking up a hog roast banquet for the wonderful guests of a 40th birthday party.
Pub hog roasts don’t come much better than Big Roast’s this weekend. The food looked stunning and was enjoyed by the 100 guests of this huge party. Big Roast would like to wish the man of the moment a very happy birthday and would like to thank him for being such a great host. Our chef really enjoyed serving the friends and family of this excellent celebration. We hope that our Big Roast service lived up to expectations.
