Hog Roast Events With Canapes

Big Roast offers a wide range of basic and premium canapes to compliment your roast. We’ve had the pleasure of providing many customers with some of these over the Summer, and have included photos from two events here to demonstrate some of the choices available for Big Roast customers looking to provide something special in addition to their meat option.

In the images below you can see the selection that one of our customers made with their canapes – they are the feta and prosciutto bonbons, duck and fig kebabs, and prawn cocktail choux bites:

In a separate event where we provided a hog roast plus canapes, this customer chose duck and fig kebabs too, and also salmon & dill hollandaise croustades, and red pepper and feta frittata:

Medieval Country Hog Roast

We had the pleasure of providing our hog roasting services to one of the more colourful events that we have been asked to cater for when we supplied a traditional hog roast for this medieval party in the grounds of this beautiful country house. The hog roast has been a British tradition since Medieval times and we are proud to be continuing the delicious method of cooking pork in the 21st Century!

Summer Party With Desserts in Putney

Big Roast catered for a party in Wandsworth Park in Putney in July, providing a pork loins spit roast package, and summer desserts for the guests. We set up our cooking and serving areas beside the gazebo under which the party was housed. The photos below detail the self service table for plates (plates provided by the customer) and apple sauce that we set up – rolls and sauce are generally provided self-service during our events with meat served up by the chef – and Big Roast staff serving guests with our White Chocolate & Raspberry Tart and Summer Fruit Salad dessert options.

Spit Roast Loins For a Garden Party

We’ve catered for many customers’ parties and events with our spit roast loins this summer, and thought we would create a blog with some examples of the kind of events that they can be ideal for.

Our first example comes from a garden party in South East London for which Big Roast provided two pork loins and two lamb loins on one of our charcoal spit roasting machines. The two lamb loins are the smaller joints both on a single spit, the pork loins are each on their own spit:

Here is an example of another event where we provided our 3 pork loins package, feeding up to 80 people, for a different garden party. In the last image you can see that the loins have been wrapped in tin foil, which is typical method that Big Roast chefs will use to avoid overcooking, and drying out of the meat. The foil retains the juices from the meat, keeping it moist and succulent right up until serving time:

Our final example shows how our chefs prepare a loin for serving once cooked. A disposable paper sheet is placed on one of the tables that we bring to the event, to catch any excess mess. On this a carving board is placed, the chef will remove the layer of crackling from the loin, and cut the meat into slices. The crackling is broken up and served alongside the meat, and the chef uses hygienic gloves to handle the meat:

Barbecue Catering at a North London Party

This August Big Roast was proud to be able to provide our barbecue catering service for a customer returning for her third Big Roast catered event. Taking place in the garden of her lovely home in North London, Big Roast provided barbequed burgers, sausages and chicken skewers on one of our specialised gas barbecue machines, as well as salads and a drinks waiter.

Our delicious burgers, sausages and chicken skewers (marinated in either cajun or BBQ sauce) make up the barbecue options that Big Roast currently offers.

Our waiting staff are available for any event with a minimum hire time of 4 hours at £72. After this we charge £9 per additional half hour, assuming that the staff will leave the event at the same time as the chef. Please note that Big Roast does not supply drinks and the drinks pictured below with our Big Roast waiter were provided by the customer.

We will provide rolls, sauces, gazebos and tables for cooking and serving, and will clear up everything we have used and take it away at the end of your barbecue event – making it as stress-free as possible for you. Corporate Hog Roast In EC1

Earlier this month we provided a hog roast for a joint corporate event for two companies who sit across a courtyard from each other. Big Roast provided 4 whole pigs cooked on 4 machines under two separate gazebos in the courtyard. Our gazebos kept us, and the meat, dry as the weather turned wet and windy. As the guests headed inside we roasted on, and after carving and placing the cooked pork in our usual metal plates our chefs served the delicious meat, rolls and apple sauce on the tables that we bring to every event – as you can see from the last photo in this gallery. We bring gazebos to cover our cooking and serving area to every event, as well as adequate table space and table cloths on which to serve your food. You can also see from the photos below the Big Roast chef’s uniform, and hygienic gloves are worn for cooking and carving.

Charity Hog Roast raises money in Colley Gate

There’s nothing quite like settling down for a great hog roast party, chomping on delicious meat and salads, as well as sampling all of the delicious sauces and sweet treats that we have on offer here at Big Roast. Of course, we believe that knowing your pennies are going towards a great cause makes the food even more tasty.

A recent fundraiser in Colley Gate, West Midlands, saw punters enjoying lovely weather, and the experience of seeing their meat cooked fresh on a spit, all the while raising money for Acorns Children’s Hospice, which helps thousands of young people with life-threatening illnesses. Organiser Barbara Price, who has supported the hospice since the death of her cousin’s son, said “We are over the moon and grateful to everyone who turned up. It was a lot of hard work, but we really enjoyed it”.

If, like Barbara, you have a charity or cause that is close to your heart, you may also be looking for a way in which to raise money and awareness of your chosen association, whilst giving people the opportunity to have a lovely time. Big Roast cooks for Time Out

We had a lovely evening last Tuesday, when our chums from Time Out magazine popped down for a cheeky hog roast, to make the most of the sunny weather and to indulge ourselves and our buddies in our tasty buns filled willed yummy hog, along with a dollop of our delicious apple sauce, just because we can.
Tim Out, one of London’s most popular publications, helps locals and visitors plan their very own “time out”, detailing free and low cost events all over the city. The team search high and low for exciting things to do over every single weekend, often hunting out exclusive openings and gigs, allowing everyone access to great entertainment.
Our meat, pictured alongside Alexis, one of the TO journalists, will appear as part of a feature on 101 things to do in the capital during the summer, with an emphasis on finding something original and exciting for Londoners, and those who live in the surrounding areas, to enjoy in the warmer weather.
So keep your eyes peeled for the Big Roast London Time Out debut, which will no doubt get those taste buds tingling and your mouths watering for some of our yummy food.
