What to do with the leftover Hog

July 30th, 2010
put your hog roast tower hamlets leftovers into a salad 150x150 What to do with the leftover Hog hog roastOver the past year, as we’ve been catering for hundreds of hog roast Tower Hamlets (and all the other London boroughs), we’ve come to realise that sometimes people just can’t eat as much of our delicious hogs as they’d like. Rest assured, this has nothing to do with the quality of our pigs/lamb, just that they may have nibbled a few canapés before they came out. This does of course leave our host with some left overs, and this week’s blog is a celebration of all the things that can be done with cold pork:
- Take it on a picnic, in sandwiches with some apple sauce. A tasty and filling summer snack, and definitely one to whet every appetite.
- Put it in a salad with some fennel and green leaves, plus a sprinkling of chives and rosemary, along with your fave dressing. Light and delicious.
- Mix it up into bubble and squeak, with potatoes, cabbage and whatever other veggies you can find in the fridge. So easy, and so satisfying.
If you’re puzzling over what to do with your hog roast left overs, or indeed would like Big Roast to rock over to you, wherever you are, please do get in touch and one of our team will be on hand to help.

How much Meat Can you Handle?

July 16th, 2010

could you eat a 64oz steak 150x150 How much Meat Can you Handle? hog roastThere’s reason that we’re jolly good at roasting hogs and lamb, making salads and serving delicious sauces to go with it all, and that’s simply because we love meat, and care deeply about its taste, quality and the experience of savouring every last juicy mouthful. Having said this, the Hog Roast Camden ethos is all about enjoying in moderation; surely one can have too much of a good thing? Not everyone agrees with us though, least of all our chums at Spur Steak and Grill, who set their customers the challenge of eating an entire 64oz steak (that’s a lot of meat, people), and if they complete said challenge, they are relinquished of the burden of paying for the privilege of potentially feeling quite unwell for some time afterwards. We’re not sure we can recommend that you, dearest blog reader, should undertake such a difficult feat, but we know that some of you out there are immensely competitive, and thus won’t listen to what we say anyhow. What we CAN recommend is getting on the phone to us here at Big Roast, and we can talk you through how we can cater for large parties, making sure everyone has enough meat and everything else, without making anyone ill from the e

Big Roast Provides Wonderful Staff

July 9th, 2010

big roast london can bring waiters 150x150 Big Roast Provides Wonderful Staff hog roastWe’ve just had just over a year of wonderful event planning and running here at Big Roast London, and we love what we do. We particularly enjoy hearing all the lovely feedback from our satisfied clients, stating that our food and service was above and beyond their expectations, and that their guests left happy. It’s great feeling as though we do everything we can to keep things ticking along smoothly, which is why we are pleased to be able to offer extra waiting staff, if your event requires it. Maybe you’re after a few extra pairs of hands to pour drinks, dish out salads and sauces, and give you a hand clearing everything up at the end of the day, just to ease the pressure a little. The last thing you want to be doing at your own party is worrying if your guests will have everything they need, particularly if you want service to be a little more special. If this sounds like something you might be interested in, please get in touch with the office, and we’ll be able to give you a quote over the phone for the numbers of staff you think you might need. They’ll arrive neat and tidy, with a smile, and be ready to help make your celebration a success.

Introducing the new Big Roast London Sauce

June 18th, 2010

big roast London loves Lappies 150x150 Introducing the new Big Roast London Sauce hog roastNot content with our meat being as delicious as it already is, we’ve added a little something new into the mix. Our Steve, one of the founders of Big Roast London all that time ago (last summer), has decided that he’s had enough of missing his favourite South African sauce, and is importing it especially for your tasting pleasure. Lappies Braai Sauce is a scrumptious blend of various top-secret ingredients; but they must be doing something right, as since the company founded in 1985, they’ve  been busy spreading (hahaha, geddit?) the word and the fame, as well as developing four different sauces which are now sold across the Western Cape in South Africa.
Steve says, “Basically, I thought it was time the British public was exposed to this incredible taste experience.  The braai (barbeque) tradition is so huge back home, and I want to bring some of that over here. Lappies literally goes with any meat you care to cook, which is what makes it so magic, and completely impossible to make your own. So far, it’s been going down pretty well with our clients”.
If you’d like to try out our new sauce, please do get in touch, and one of our friendly team will be able to book your event into our diary. It really is as simple as that.

Meet the Hog Roast Harrow Team

June 11th, 2010

Big Roast is nearly a year old, and we’ve spent that time travelling around the UK, making sure the parties and events that our clients are holding go off without a hitch. The trouble is, we’ve realised that you, faithful blog reader, may not know all that much about us. But help is at hand. Ladies and Gents, we introduce to you….the Hog Roast Harrow team.

Rob (Co-owner)
Fave meat: Lamb roast
Favourite salad: Red pepper pasta salad, although, quite frankly, he’d rather dig into the desserts.
A little about him: When Steve came to Rob with the idea of Big Roast, Rob was delighted. He even hired Steve to cater for his own daughter’s ‘Welcome to the World’ party.everyone at hog roast harrow also loves a good salad 150x150 Meet the Hog Roast Harrow Team hog roast

Steve (Co-owner/chef)
Fave meat: The classic hog, with some tasty apple sauce.
Favourite salad: Tricolour pasta salad
A little about him: Brought up in South Africa, Steve has been cooking on the braai (a South African barbeque) since he can remember. We’re extremely glad to have him and his know-how over here!

Roman (the one on the end of the phone)
Fave meat: Being a vegetarian, Roman prefers our veggie options, of which there are plenty.
Favourite salad: Four bean salad with mustard dressing
A little about him: Roman loves a good knees-up, and is very generous with his catering for his party guests. He knows everything there is to know about how to help your party run smoothly, so ask away and he’ll sort you out.

Dan (the one who supplies the meat)
Fave meat: Sausages, of any shape or size.
Favourite salad: Potato salad
A little about him: Last summer, Dan was involved in catering for a number of local events; he and his barbeque really made a name for themselves around Wimbledon. Let’s hope this year sees the same thing happening!

June 4th, 2010

hog roast Islington is one 150x150 Hog Roast Islington is 1 year old! hog roastYou may already know that this summer is pretty special for us at Big Roast. Not only it is our second peak season that we’re delivering delicious dishes to our customers around the country, helping their parties and gatherings run smoothly with their guests well fed, but it’s our very first birthday. Yes, that’s right ladies and gents, we are one year old, and to celebrate, what else is there to do but hold a hog roast Islington style?! We’ll be breaking out the banners and flags, possibly some streamers and balloons too, and inviting all of our chums around for a good old knees up. We’ll be indulging in our favourite salads (the green leaf and the tricolour pasta salad are the most popular in the office at the moment), packing juicy slices of hog into our tasty buns and topping them off with apple sauce. Our garden at big roast HQ provides the perfect setting for a summery themed party, where we can watch the sun set and play music well into the night.
If you or a loved one is celebrating a significant birthday, don’t delay- pick up the phone or drop us an email and we’ll talk you through the ways in which we can make your big day that much easier to organise. Big roast takes the stress out of hosting; let us show you how!

Rob and Helen enlist Hog Roast Ealing for their big day

May 14th, 2010

big roast ealing will be helping with rob and helens big day 150x150 Rob and Helen enlist Hog Roast Ealing for their big day hog roastThe thing we love most about our jobs at Big Roast is getting to see so many of our clients have such a wonderful, stress-free time at their event, and knowing that the food we’re providing is going down a storm, leaving the hosts with nothing to worry about. We especially love having the opportunity to be involved with a special wedding, in particular, the big day of our very own Rob, who is getting married to the lovely Helen in a matter of weeks.
Our services will be coming into play once the wedding meal is finished, the cake has been cut and the band has struck up-hopefully after a good session on the dance floor, where we expect to see many an elderly relative dancing in a suitably embarrassing manner, the guests will be more than a little peckish, and ready to dive into some hog roast filled rolls.
Of course, Rob and Helen wouldn’t settle for second best on their wedding day, which is why they’ve been recommending hog roast Ealing to those closest to them, and trust us with feeding their nearest and dearest.
If you’re looking for a hog roast for your big day, look no further- please do get in touch, and we’ll happily talk you through our service and the delicious dishes we supply. We look forward to hearing from you!
