|Big Roast was founded by two guys passionate about hog roasts. Since 2006 we have served over 1000 hog roast events across London, Essex and Kent. Our hog roasts will lift the profile of your event while being lite on your pocket.
We take a whole pig – gutted and cleaned – and set in on a spit within one of our custom made hog roasting machines. The pig is then slow cooked over the next six/seven hours and during the last hour we slowly carve both meat and crackling off the carcass and serve delicious pork to your guest.
Our Hog roasts are ideally suited to outdoor events and the weatherproof nature of our machines means that even in inclement weather, we can still cook outside – even if the meat has to served indoors. If you let us know how many people you need to cater for we will provide a suitable hog that will ensure that all your guests are well fed.

A hog roast is our longest event - and customers should allow around seven hours from our arrival until all food served to customers. A normal event will take the following structure:
- We arrive about seven hours before serving.
- After our initial set up, the hog takes about 5 hours to be cooked on the spit roast.
- Our experienced chef will take an hour to cut the meat from the bone.
- We recommend serving the hog straight from the machine to keep it nice and warm, and serving around takes around 1 – 1.5 hours.
- We serve our hog with apple sauce and customers can choose to serve themselves rolls and any salads you have ordered.
- We clean and clear away, leaving you to enjoy your event.

Sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you with feedback on the hog roast for our wedding on 25th August. It's been a busy time settling into married life, plus a new house and new job!
The hog roast was absolutely excellent! It gave us real peace of mind to know the food was being prepared by experts and it allowed us to properly enjoy our day.
Your team were friendly, helpful, great with our guests and very hard-working. In particular, cooking outside during a major downpour was very impressive.

In short we were extremely pleased and impressed with both the food and with James! We hired Big Roast for our son's christening and were delighted with the quality of food and service we received. From helpful advice on the phone before we ordered to genuine, warm and professional service from our chef James on the day.
