LAMB ROASTS FROM BIG ROAST

For smaller parties of under fifty people we can provide people with hog roasts, but this often means that there is a lot of meat left over. A great alternative is a lamb roast which is a delicious alternative costing from £425.

The lamb is cooked on a regular spit roast, rotisserie style, and served in rolls with mint sauce. Our normal extras like salads are of course a great addition and perfectly suited to the roast lamb.

Portion sizes are an important considerations for most customers and we have taken the time to apply some science to this. The maximum size of lamb available during the summer months  is around 25kgs, and of that about 50% of a lamb is edible meat. This means that our average lamb would provide around12.5 kilos of meat. Spread out over 40 people this allows for around 312 grammes per meat eater which is more than ample and allows for second  servings for some. It is also important to estimate how many vegetarians and children you have as this will mean that the amount of meat will spread further amoung people.

A lamb roast is also a quicker affair than a hog roast – and customers should allow around 4-5 hours from our arrival until everyone has been served. A normal lamb roast event takes the following structure -

1.  We arrive about 4 hours before serving.

2. After our initial set up, the lamb takes about 2- 2.5 hours to be cooked on the spit roast with rosemary – and laterly garlic if requested (a spit roast is a very hot place for garlic to be).

3. Our experienced chef takes 30 min to cut the meat from the bone.

4. We recommend serving the lamb straight from the machine to keep it nice and warm, and serving takes around 30 minutes for up to fifty people.

5. We serve our lamb with mint sauce and customers can choose to serve themselves salad and rolls. If customers wish us to marinate the lamb prior to serving this is possible.

6. We wash our spit roast at the customer premises and leave people to their event.
