SPIT ROASTS FROM BIG ROAST
An excellent alternative to a whole hog roast or lamb roast we provide a spit roast pork loin, which is perfect for events that require some flexibility. Big Roasts spit roast pork loin provides an option for those with smaller events planned and who are set on a pig roast. The spit roast can cater for events between 10 to 100 people and, because of the smaller cuts of meat simultaneously cooking, offers reduced service times.
The pork loin is certainly the most common form of spit roast cooked in the UK – but we do not limit customers to simply one option. Rotisserie style cooking works with a wide variety of meats. Big Roast is able to spit roast a variety of meats including lamb, chicken, turkey and goose – and have even been asked to cook cuts of beef for customers. The most unusual to date is a goat roast which was a great success.
A spit roast can provide all of the flavour of a whole hog event in a quicker more convenient time frame. Although the major benefit of the spit roast is it adaptability a normal pork loin event would takes the following structure -
1. We arrive about 3 hours before serving.
2. After our initial set up, the loin takes about 2 hours to be cooked on the spit roast.
3. Our experienced chef takes 20 to 30 minutes to carve the meat.
4. We recommend serving the pork straight from the machine to keep it nice and warm, and serving takes around 45 minutes to an hour for up to 100 people.
5. We serve our pork with an apple sauce and customers can choose to serve themselves salad and rolls. If customers wish us to marinate the pork prior to serving this is possible.
6. We wash our spit roast at the customer premises and leave people to their event.
Times may vary according to your choice of meat. Spit roast chicken can be Cajun cooked in 30 minutes but will take longer to carve. Simply make an enquiry with us regarding what you are looking for and we will arrange for your meat to be sourced and prepared for your special occasion.
