Big Roast specialise in making sure our customers have the right food for their party. For parties of under 100 people, pork and/or lamb spit roasts are an excellent alternative. As well as being a cheaper than a full hog roast, the cooking time for a spit roast is under four hours.
A spit roast is a perfect way to cater for a smaller party and is by far our most popular option. The loins are cooked over charcoal and are ready in just four hours, far quicker than a full hog. A spit roast allows also us to serve a mixture of meats – lamb and pork – at the same time. Our pork loins are served in slices, basted in our secret marinade, and come with lots of crackling. Yum!
All of our spit roast packages include an experienced chef to ‘Cook, Carve & Serve’, bread rolls, sauces, serving tables, a gazebo and most importantly your choice of meat. All prices include VAT.

Some customers holding an event in a residential address without side access to the garden opt for the smaller spit roast machine since the full size hog/lamb roasting machine is too large to transport through to the garden. A spit roast usually takes the following format:A spit roast can provide all of the flavour of a whole hog event in a quicker more convenient time frame.
Although the major benefit of the spit roast is it ability to be adaptable a normal pork loin event would takes the following structure
- We arrive about 4 hours before serving.
- After our initial set up, the loin takes about 2.5 hours to be cooked on the spit roast.
- Our experienced chef serves for approximately one hour.
- We serve our Pork Loin Roasts with fresh rolls and apple sauce. Our Lamb Loin Roasts are served with fresh rolls and mint sauce.
- After serving, our chefs then clear away everything and leave guests to enjoy their event.

60th birthday party

We had a lovely party last Sunday for Richard’s 70th birthday thanks to you and your wonderful chef Rikki. He arrived bang on time and without any fuss got started on the cooking. The food was absolutely delicious.
I contacted seven companies for our party.
We have a very large terrace which easily accommodates a party and caterers. On sharing this detail with many of the companies I was immediately told they could not help us. On speaking to Gary at Big Roast I was delighted when he kindly talked through alternative options that Big Roast would accommodate to ensure we were able to cater for our 90 guests. They also came to visit the same day, measured the terrace and talked through what would of be possible. Without doubt the service and customer focus were head and shoulders above their peers.
The event itself was a huge success the food was absolutely delicious, the two staff were efficient, tidy and friendly and our guests raved about the roast for days afterwards. Good food , good value and I would without doubt recommend the Big Roast team to anyone wishing to use them. We will certainly use them again! Five Star!

The crackling was the best they had ever tasted!
We had an Olympics -themed party on Saturday 28th July and the Hog Roast really was a fantastic focal point of the party. The guests enjoyed watching the food being cooked and the gorgeous smells wafting from the roast made everyone anticipate the serving time all the more! When the food was served, it was absolutely delicious. The servings were generous, the rolls and sauces were fresh and delicious and several people commented that the crackling was the best they had ever tasted! All the guests were very complimantary and several enquired about Big Roast and took business cards. Will, the chef, was very polite and organised. He set up and cleared away efficiently and with no mess. He was pleasant and friendly with the guests and was a pleasure to have serving at the party. He kept us informed about timings and left-overs, etc and served the food bang on schedule. He also made a huge effort to get here in the heavy Olympic traffic with several roads having been blocked off by the races, so a big thank you for that - and for ringing on the way to let us know he was running a bit late.
All in all, my husband and I agreed that having Big Roast cater for us really made our party! It made things so easy and completely stress-free for us so that we could enjoy our party (and the food) alongside our guests. We had so many positive comments from everyone and, all in all, were extremely happy we chose to book you! Thank you very much - we would definitely use Big Roast again!

Seriously impressed from start to finish. Our local forum recommended you so we booked on that basis. Personally I prefer using a recommendation by someone I know, so was a little nervous we would be disappointed, especially given it was my husband\'s 40th. I was under pressure to perform!
However, this was a huge success, not only from making all the arrangements and you helpfully suggesting we book a spit rather than hog roast but to Andreas being a great chef. He set up seamlessly and timed it to perfection to our agreed serving time. He asked for all the names of all the salads I prepared so he could help our guests make their selection - so professional and a great touch! Everyone thought the spit roast was fabulous - the sauce an absolute winner. We had a great party, but a key factor was the success of the food.
It\'s our 10 year wedding anniversary next summer and we\'re probably going to repeat everything - huge success.Thanks so much!

Cooked to perfection
Big Roast recently catered a 30th birthday for me. I went for a lamb and pork spit roast. Both meats were cooked to perfection, and everyone absolutely loved the food. Most people had second helpings. Would definitely highly recommend them for a party or special occasion..Ben 03/07/2012

The Hog Roast was seriously delicious
The hog roast was seriously delicious and all our guests raved about it. I think you got the fennel rub spot on as the meat had a lovely flavour, but not overpowering. Sebastian did a great job (and also kindly helped Tim lug a few bits of furniture around which we really appreciated) and contributed to a really fantastic evening. I’m sure you’ll get a few new jobs out of it as the general consensus was that it was the best hog roast anyone had ever had, so well done and huge thanks from Tim and I.Please pass our thanks on to Sebastian. Definitely the best hog roast we have ever had
Yes the weather was awful so windy – I really felt for Steven and Ricky as they were desperately trying to keep everything from blowing away!
But everyone commented on how great the food was and our client was really pleased. Steven and Ricky were brilliant, so helpful and kept updating me which was great. Just wished they could have told me what was in the sauce! The food was amazing, definitely the best hog roast Linsey and I have ever had!! So thank you so much.

I realise it has now been a month since my brother's wedding, but I just wanted to send you a quick message to say thank you for the service you provided for us on 12th May. Your chefs were very organised, efficient, friendly and created exactly the atmosphere my brother had hoped for at the church, and transporting the meat to the reception venue seemed to happen effortlessly. At the Town Hall, the chef who arrived with the meat was very couteous, and waited patiently until we were ready for him to cut the loins and present them with the crackling on the carving boards for service. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the pork certainly being the centrepiece, especially with someone on each table having a go at the carving! Thank you for being flexible in your approach and being willing to do things a little bit differently, from receiving the meat from our supplier to providing the additional bbq for us to use.

1977 Punk Themed Jubilee Party
