How much Meat Can you Handle?

July 16th, 2010

could you eat a 64oz steak 150x150 How much Meat Can you Handle? hog roastThere’s reason that we’re jolly good at roasting hogs and lamb, making salads and serving delicious sauces to go with it all, and that’s simply because we love meat, and care deeply about its taste, quality and the experience of savouring every last juicy mouthful. Having said this, the Hog Roast Camden ethos is all about enjoying in moderation; surely one can have too much of a good thing? Not everyone agrees with us though, least of all our chums at Spur Steak and Grill, who set their customers the challenge of eating an entire 64oz steak (that’s a lot of meat, people), and if they complete said challenge, they are relinquished of the burden of paying for the privilege of potentially feeling quite unwell for some time afterwards. We’re not sure we can recommend that you, dearest blog reader, should undertake such a difficult feat, but we know that some of you out there are immensely competitive, and thus won’t listen to what we say anyhow. What we CAN recommend is getting on the phone to us here at Big Roast, and we can talk you through how we can cater for large parties, making sure everyone has enough meat and everything else, without making anyone ill from the e

Barbeque in Weighbridge for the Bennetts

April 27th, 2010

With the weather starting to improve and Summer on the way the hog roast season is coming and we are getting busier here at Big Roast.

We catered for Mr Bennett who was organising a party to celebrate his son’s birthday and his new job – so a lamb roast, as well as a barbecue and a variety of our Middle Eastern salads was perfect for the 40 boys on the beers who needed plenty of grub.

Sausages and chicken skewers were cooked on one of our charcoal barbeque machines – we also have gas barbeque machines available for events which can cook up to around 50 burgers at a time. The Middle Eastern salad varieties are one of a number of regionally themed salad options we provide from around the world.

Hog roast feeds the masses during the recession

October 12th, 2009

hog roast partyWho would’ve thought that during our time of skimping and saving that the humble piggy would be helping to see us through? Research conducted by The Independent shows that throughout this year, the hog roast has made a comeback, as companies can feed hundreds of people for a fraction of the price of a sit down meal. The social factor is also a big turn-on, with colleagues able to mingle easily, and have time to bond with each other in a time when morale in companies may be particularly low – a great social opportunity for those who work so hard for a company to be rewarded and feel appreciated. Big Roast can cater for large or small parties, at business or residential addresses, and are always delighted to be involved in local events. Healthy options are always available and the desserts always go down a storm, and are the perfect treat for a year’s hard slog.

It is also celebrities who seem to have cottoned on to this practical and hassle-free way of entertaining- Zoe Ball and Kate Moss have both favoured Medieval style bashes over formal dinners- a sure sign of a good idea!!

The Big Roast vs. Big Roast

October 5th, 2009

big roast dinner 300x199 The Big Roast vs. Big Roast hog roastOver the coming weekend Big Roast, London’s original hog roast company have lent our name to a fantastic event taking place across London. On Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th of October the Gourmet odyssey and more importantly The Big Roast is being held in numerous venues across London, with Leadenhall Market being the centre point.

This events offers a chance to taste and experience food of the UKs top chefs, including; Mark Hix, Richard Corrigan, Fergus Henderson, Tim Hughes, Anna Hansen, Rowley Leigh and John Torode. However you have to like roast dinners as it is the only option on the menu.

Along with the Leadenhall Market event many of those participating in the London Restaurant Festival will be running In-house Big Roast menus. To find out which restaurants are involved simply look at the London food festivals website. This event is also a ‘bring your own’ event so you won’t be paying restaurant prices for a nice glass of Chablis or a bottle of Shiraz to wash down your Sunday roast. If you can’t make this event but still want the spectacle that is involved with large scale hog roast then simply think of booking us at your next event, we may not be able to offer you all the trimmings in a traditional sense but our extensive salad and side dish options along with our expertly cooked meat means no one will leave hungry or disappointed.

Tickets for ‘The Big Roast’ are between £40 and £50 depending on how close you would like to sit to the action. As opposed to a standard, plated dish, participating restaurants will champion the fashion for serving roast joints of meat for friends and family to share.

Hog Roast in Wimbledon for Streetcar

August 21st, 2009

14082009113 300x225 Hog Roast in Wimbledon for Streetcar hog roastHog roasts are considered by most to be for family events – weddings, birthdays and anniversaries – but Streetcar, the self service pay as you go car hire company, know that Big Roast can cater for corporate events as well. Our hog roast was part of a team building event that we think really helped morale and can’t wait to hear if Streetcar continue with the same enthusiasm as they mustered for our pig roast.

As well as Big Roasts exceptionally good spit roast the employees of Streetcar had a bucking bronco, performers and activities to keep them entertained. Split into three teams, the reds, the blues and the greens, the event was more than a summer party – although there seemed to be plenty of people enjoying themselves. The pictures below show the different team building tasks that were involved including a challenging assault course.

Organising a corporate event is a challenge in itself and Big Roast thinks that this was a real success. Big Roast has provided hog roasts for corporate events on a number of occasions and this was one of the best. Well organised and efficiently run, at no point were any of the staff or service providers unaware of their role. Streetcar staff were consistently taking part in productive, fun activities and all the services brought in for the event, from jugglers to Big Roast chefs, were prepared and ready thanks to expert organisation.

Big Roast would like to thank Streetcar for allowing us to provide the roast for this corporate event. Spit roasts are perfect for employee summer parties, providing a welcome spectacle capable of feeding the whole office. We’d like to extend a special thank you to Kelly for providing Big Roast with all the necessary support for us to provide a pig roast for you. Your positive comments were well appreciated. “Brilliant!”

Lamb Roast in Loughton, Essex

August 14th, 2009

lamb roast big roast 300x224 Lamb Roast in Loughton, Essex hog roastGood feedback is always nice to hear but the excellent feedback Big Roast received for this lamb roast in Loughton Essex was as great to savour as the delicious lamb rolls that were served.

Big Roast likes to write a few words about our favourite events and this midweek lamb roast is no exception. The atmosphere was superb and the event organisers were absolutely wonderful, accommodating Big Roast as we catered for 45 guests. Sometimes we like to show a few pictures of the event surroundings and take a few pictures of those invited but for this blog we’d like to focus on what was so well received… the food.

The lamb pictures Big Roast is posting my not be as cute as ones running around Epping Forest but the comments on how grebig roast lamb roast 300x224 Lamb Roast in Loughton, Essex hog roastat they tasted, how excellent the smelt and, to the professional, how good they looked was enough for us. We wanted to post these pictures straight away and Big Roast hopes you enjoy reading our brief blog articles as much as we enjoy creating the content.

We think the lamb roasts at this event was one of the best we’ve ever cooked. Coming from online organic butcher English Meat, this whole lamb took about two hours to cook to perfection. Weighing approximately 20kg there was plenty for everyone. Served with a mint sauce tailored for the perfect lamb roll you will not find a better lamb roast than Big Roast’s.

We’d like to again thank our excellent hosts for using Big Roast on Wednesday and really appreciate your kind comments: “Excellent all round. We would certainly use you again.”
