At the end of last month we celebrated the birthdays of our very own Big Roast babies, little Louis and Zoe, and so what were we to do but hold a party. When it comes to learning how to do it properly, we thought, no better way than start them young- and so we embarked on teaching them how to hold a hog roast London style! We sent out invitations nice and early, and went about selecting the salads that would be served with our meat, making sure that the varied tastes of our guests would be catered for, and set about planning the entertainment. A balloon sculptor was found, with promises of monkeys, racing cars and giant cartoon characters (and this was just for the adults).

Cakes were baked, pineapples cored for the baby pina coladas, and decorations were streamed around the house. As the day of the party approached, the sun shined and spirits were high; it also seemed that a few of our friends were getting similar party-throwing ideas, as the ‘how to hold a hog roast London style’ tips spread like wild fire. The food went down a treat- we’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration!

Big Roast, although an advocate for the spectacular flavour of a hog roast, would never want an animal to be caused unnecessary pain. However, we have been reassured that no pig was hurt during the making of this, or any other, broadcast. In fact injuries all round have been keep to a minimum with pride, and a little dignity, being caused the most damage. One hapless contestant did receive a nasty bite, requiring stitches, and another received a bruised eye when pig and contestant ran into the sty fence. Thankfully the big was unharmed.

Provided by organic online butcher English Meat and sourced from a family owned farm in Essex the provenance of our meat is guaranteed. We use only the best meat to provide the quality of flavour for our pig roasts, lamb roasts and spit roasts.

Big Roast have provided hog roasts for some large events, some grand events and some big events but this has to be Big Roasts most elegant roasting event. We sent our best roaster, head chef Steven, to this hog roast in Ascot and his expert skill was put to task as he seasoned, marinated, carved and created a boar roast banquet fit for this spectacular setting.

There was a few questions about Big Roast attending this wedding reception. Initial problems with the venue were going to stop us from providing a roast in the evening with the venue unhappy with allowing an outside caterer onto their premises. However the happy couple were very keen on having a big roast service. Working with Jake, who had more than enough to think about, we made a deal that allowed Big Roast to provide its delicious best.

A whole hog can feed up to 120 people so with 75 guests I had to warn the Vowels that this Kent event would have plenty of meat for everyone. They were not at all concerned with creating a real boar roast banquet though and supplemented the slow roasted pig with three of Big Roast’s more substantial salad options. Coupled with our beautifully carved pork, served on a soft white roll and with our organic apple sauce, Big Roast served a classic potato salad and a rice salad with mixed peppers, garden peas, sweet corn, sultanas & fresh herbs.

Big Roast was also on hand to provide china plates and stainless steel cutlery for this Bromley hog roast. Sometimes the thought of having to clean up can spoil a party so Big Roast always endeavours to take away as much of your event stress as possible. Big Roast can provide disposable plates and cutlery as well as the high quality china that the Vowels decided upon for this Kent roast.

As you can see from the pictures below it was a real mix of ages but everyone seemed to enjoy the food served. Big Roast always makes sure it listens to its customers and really appreciate the feedback we received. We promise to look for anyway we can to improve the service we provide and take everything into consideration. As well as Big Roasts exceptionally good spit roast the employees of Streetcar had a bucking bronco, performers and activities to keep them entertained. Split into three teams, the reds, the blues and the greens, the event was more than a summer party – although there seemed to be plenty of people enjoying themselves. The pictures below show the different team building tasks that were involved including a challenging assault course.

Organising a corporate event is a challenge in itself and Big Roast thinks that this was a real success. Big Roast has provided hog roasts for corporate events on a number of occasions and this was one of the best. Well organised and efficiently run, at no point were any of the staff or service providers unaware of their role. Streetcar staff were consistently taking part in productive, fun activities and all the services brought in for the event, from jugglers to Big Roast chefs, were prepared and ready thanks to expert organisation.

Big Roast would like to thank Streetcar for allowing us to provide the roast for this corporate event. Spit roasts are perfect for employee summer parties, providing a welcome spectacle capable of feeding the whole office. Forty three hog roast eaters were on hand to savour the flavour of a hog roast banquet for Work Group’s summer event. Steve, Big Roasts master hog roast cook and creator of our patented hog roast apple sauce, said the wind was a real issue as he prepared, cooked and carved this hog roast on the fifth floor. “The wind caused a real challenge,” Big Roasts’ hog roast master chef claimed, “but I think the event went really well and everyone enjoyed the hog roast.”

As you can see from the pictures Steve was able to keep his cool and manged to cook the whole hog roast with his sun glasses constantly on. The photo’s also show how beautiful the weather was for this roof top hog roast extravaganza. The people at Work Group made the hog roast an absolute delight to cater for. Big Roast likes to make people happy and the meat eaters of Work Group really seemed to enjoy the hog roast. The vegetarians were not disappointed either with Big Roast providing vegetable kebabs served with spicy tomato relish. A meal even the heartiest meat eater would consider becoming a veggie for.

Big Roast finished the hog roast event with a selection of its two favourite deserts, rich chocolate fudge cake and baked lemon cheesecake, a sweet end to a fabulous hog roast event. Again we got some great feedback and would like to thank Work Group for letting us provide the hog roast for their summer event. Hopefully we’ll see you at Christmas. “Everybody loved it! Would definitely use again.”

Hog Roasts have been found in pubs since knight were drinking ale and mead in inns around the country. Big Roast, London’s original hog roast, lamb roast and spit roast company, provided a traditional hog roast last weekend in the Old Red Lion in Staines but this time not to satisfy the general public. Instead Big Roast were cooking up a hog roast banquet for the wonderful guests of a 40th birthday party.

Pub hog roasts don’t come much better than Big Roast’s this weekend. The food looked stunning and was enjoyed by the 100 guests of this huge party. Big Roast would like to wish the man of the moment a very happy birthday and would like to thank him for being such a great host. Our chef really enjoyed serving the friends and family of this excellent celebration. We hope that our Big Roast service lived up to expectations.

As you can see from a few Big Roast pictures this delightful garden party was a resounding success. We really enjoyed, meeting, greeting and serving such lovely people. Kingston is famous for being one of only two Royal boroughs in London and Big Roast can see why Anglo Saxon Kings from Edward the Elder to Ethelred the Unready chose to hold his coronation here.  A beautiful day with a traditional royal banquet – a hog roast from Big Roast.
